About Courtney & The I.V. League Blog

Welcome! My name is Courtney and I am a Registered Nurse. I started the I.V. League Blog when I began my journey as a nursing student some time ago. As a “non-traditional” student (school’s language), I looked everywhere on the internet for information that would help me out with my nursing school journey, but was unable to find everything that I was wanting all in one place. So this website was born from that. I wanted a place where nursing students, undergraduate and graduate alike, could find information, tutorials, templates, and just a place to read about different aspects of nursing school.

Now a little more about me! I am married with two dogs an a cat. I work in Labor & Delivery as a Registered Nurse and LOVE it there! Even though I worked in Labor & Delivery while putting myself through nursing school, I always told myself that I would not lock myself into that position if I found something that really interested me during the course of my journey. I had met people in working in L&D who had said things like “I only went to nursing school to work in Labor & Delivery.” That SO wasn’t me. Towards the end of school and after some soul searching, I realized that my Labor & Delivery unit was like my home and my colleagues were like my family. We call each other “Framily,” or friends who we have chosen that are like family.

IMG_7069I attended a one year BSN accelerated nursing program for my degree. They say you have to be a little crazy to want to do it in a year. I do not disagree with that statement. I also have 3 other degrees in other things: Life & Natural Science, Arts & Humanities (Fine Art Photography), and a degree in Liberal Studies – Japanese Sword Culture. Random…..right?

Continue to follow along my journey as I go through the graduate program application process and transition into professional practice and continue on my journey to be a Certified Nurse Midwife and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner!
